Project Description
In this project, individual team members were invited to develop an adventure for the game world designed in Assignment 1. The adventure needed to leverage the overall story-world created previously, offering a specific setting, characters, challenges, dilemmas, hooks, and a GM crib sheet. This adventure was designed to be a ‘one shot’ playable within a four-hour slot or clearly episodic, allowing for interim conclusions and satisfying end points.
Using the story world designed by my group in Assignment 1, we were invited to create a work of interactive fiction in the form of an Adventure Module. This module was a playable, player-performed story set within our game story-world. The process involved collaborating with the group to design a module that maximised the use of the existing world and playtesting each other's modules to ensure a cohesive and engaging experience.
My Role in the Project
World Expansion: Building on the existing world from Assignment 1, my role involved further developing and refining the story world for my interactive game book. This included creating new settings, characters, and plotlines that fit seamlessly into the established narrative and enriched the overall game experience.
Adventure Design: I designed a detailed adventure module that incorporated specific challenges, dilemmas, and hooks to engage players. This involved crafting unique scenarios that tested players' problem-solving skills and creativity, ensuring a dynamic and immersive gameplay experience.
GM Support: To facilitate smooth gameplay, I developed a comprehensive GM crib sheet. This guide provided the game master with all the necessary information to run the adventure effectively, including character details, plot points, and potential player actions.
Collaboration and Playtesting: Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with my group to ensure consistency and coherence in our individual modules. We play tested each other's adventures, providing feedback and making adjustments to enhance the overall quality and playability of the modules.
By further developing the existing story world and designing a compelling adventure module, my role in this project was pivotal in creating a rich, interactive experience. This project allowed me to apply narrative design principles and world-building skills, resulting in a cohesive and engaging interactive fiction adventure.
